NORFOLK
Permission slips for the H1N1, or swine flu, vaccine are making their way home in children's backpacks over the next few days within the Norfolk Public School System.
The Norfolk Health Department will begin offering the vaccines in the schools starting Tuesday, beginning with elementary schools, where children 9 and younger will need two shots about a month apart.
The shots are free and voluntary, and only children whose parents fill out the consent forms and send them back to the schools will be allowed to get the shots.
Consent forms and vaccine information sheets also are available on the H1N1 channel on the district's Web site: http://www.npsk12.com/.
